Welcome!
If you have found your way to this page, then it is likely that you may be interested in becoming a coach. By way of encouragement I can tell you that coaching has been, by far, the most rewarding and meaningful career I have ever experienced (and I have worked in many of different roles and industries, from Wall Street to Capitol Hill to large tech companies). It is hard to fully convey the meaning and purpose that being of service to others has brought into my life...coaching has profoundly changed my perception of the word ‘work’! If you are at all interested in pursuing this profession, I strongly encourage you to explore further. Nothing has brought me greater joy than being a part of my client’s ‘unfolding’!
“This school has been absolutely transformative, both personally and professionally. After years of coaching as a side gig, this course helped me to hone my coaching skills and build my business into a primary source of income and I’ve never been happier!” - Annette L., graduate
Background
After 18 years, thousands of hours of coaching, hundreds of books, and too much formal education, I have come to understand how to best help people find their ‘highest self’. To be frank, coaching is not rocket science. It is merely the process by which we help people let go of their fears and doubts and then show them a path to their gifts and greatness. In order to do this, however, you must understand people, their energy, and, most of all, how to attract them to your practice. This understanding is the basis of The Nirmana Leadership and Coaching Academy (NLCA).
Overview
NLCA teaches the art and business of coaching. It is carefully designed to start from the ground up, beginning with the student’s own personal development and ending with the building of a thriving coaching practice (or a leadership role). A key to this course’s effectiveness lies not only in teaching you how to coach, but also in helping you look deeply within in order to cultivate a powerful coaching presence. As a coach, you must know yourself as much as you seek to know your client. This program is not only going to teach you to coach, it is going to help you be powerful in every area of your life!
This is a VERY thorough program. Each student must be prepared to invest significant time and energy in themselves and be willing to fully commit to the process. There are few (if any) coaching programs that dive as deeply into not only the coaching process and tools, but also the student’s own psyche.
“K.C. is a coaching mentor that empowers and teaches how to be a conduit of this amazing gift of universal intelligence and awareness.” - Tony P., graduate
Types of coaching - Generally, coaching is the art of helping others to find success, higher performance and happiness. There are, however, market-based categories that classify the type of coach and their offerings. Many of these classifications overlap, but are distinguishable by client, fee structure and content. Here are a few of the most common:
Life
Career
Executive/Leadership
Performance (Sports, Speaking, Singing, Writing etc)
Health and Wellness
Relationship
Addiction/attachment
Spiritual/Energy
There are also people who wish to learn coaching skills not to become a professional coach per se, but instead to develop their own leadership strengths. These leaders know that coaching is central to creating great teams and powerful cultures, and therefore want to learn key skills.
Regardless of the reason for becoming a coach, ALL types of coaching involve helping a client understand themselves deeply, let go of fears and doubts that hold them back, and choose into a higher, more productive, and joyful way of living.
Modules - There are 6 modules in NLCA, each composed of 12 weekly on-line classes (2.5 - 3 hours per class). The modules are broken down into two categories - Core and Advanced:
Core: Module 1 (The Self), Module 2 (Creation and Change), and Module 3 (Building a Practice)
Advanced: Module 4 (Leadership), Module 5 (The ‘Big Picture’), and Module 6 (Relationships)
(The modules are described in detail below)
In order to receive a ‘Certificate of Graduation’ from NLCA the student must successfully complete the first three ‘core’ modules 1, 2 and 3. To take the ‘advanced’ modules a student must have completed at least Modules 1 and 2.
“This program is designed to develop coaches who intend to serve others. In my opinion, the combination of coaching tools, business-building tools, and KC's personal style are a rare and extremely valuable service. I'm grateful to have found and participated in Nirmana Leadership and Coaching Academy.” - Corey J., graduate
Class format - Each class will follow a general format (times are approximate, classes run from 2 1/2 to 3 hours):
Centering, breathing, meditation (5 min)
Breakout coaching exercise (30 min)*
Concept discussion (60 min)
Breakout coaching exercise (30-40 min)*
Discussion (30 min)
Homework, closing (10 min)
*During breakouts the students will coach each other on topics relevant to the class content. This will build ‘the hours’ a student needs to hone their coaching skills.
Homework - Each weekly class will involve homework and at least 1 book to read. Students are expected to show up and have done the homework and reading each week. Expected time per week is around 8 hours, depending on how fast a student reads.
Materials - A book list will be provided prior to each module so that the students can purchase or reserve (in the case of using a library) books for each week. Other supporting materials (such as forms, examples, etc.) will be provided by the instructor. After each class, the presentation/notes/class content will be sent to each student. Although it can be helpful for the student to take additional notes, it is more important that the student be listening and engaged in the conversation.
Pricing and other details - If you are interesting in becoming a coach or are a leader wanting to develop your coaching skills, please contact me directly using the ‘Contact’ tab above. I will provide pricing and requirements details in a short 1/2 hour conversation.
Module 1 - The Self
Any self-improvement or personal growth work must start with a deep understanding of ‘the self’. This means not only your client’s ‘self’, but your ‘self’ as well. Being an effective coach requires that you have a deep understanding of your own issues and patterns before attempting to work with another’s. This ‘self’ consists of three parts: The mind/ego, the subconscious, and the super-consciousness/soul. This module will approach the self from two angles: Seeing YOUR self clearly first, then observing other’s sense of self as well.
Areas of focus:
The ‘little self’ and the ‘big Self’
Cultivating self-awareness through deep listening
Fear and Love as primal emotions
Control as ‘the master addiction’
Identifying self-defining narratives and beliefs
The brain, the body and emotional energy
Intimacy, connection and conflict
The past, memories, and their effect on our reality
The truth of our innate power
Module 2 - Creation and Change
Once the foundational ‘core self’ is understood and embraced (Module 1) then the coach can proceed to help the client shift into ‘creation mode’. This is when we own our power and project it outward to either create something in the world or grow into a new phase in our lives.
Areas of focus:
Infinite human potential
Manifesting and creating in the world
The power of intention, and the role of competing intentions
Taking action, and resistance to change
Cultivating and sustaining energy
Plateaus, voids and uncertainty
Power vs. Force
Money as a reflection of energy
Embracing and applying your brilliance
Mastery as a process
Module 3 - Building Your Practice
Now that you have built a strong foundation, it is time to create a thriving coaching practice. You can make more than enough money as a coach but it requires patience, a willingness to ‘put in the hours’, and a deep desire to help others be successful. This module will help you realize your dream by creating a strong group of clients who fit your ‘ideal client profile’, and help you price your time in a way that supports how you want to work.
Areas of focus:
Your coaching style and approach
Corporate structure/taxes (the ‘nuts and bolts’)
Outreach and marketing
Speaking with a prospective client (the ‘first hour’)
Pricing and your relationship to money
Your meetings/calls and the schedule and format
Tools
Resistance and ‘looping’
Showing up with a powerful presence
Allowing yourself to be guided
Module 4 - Leadership
Leadership is the ability to help others cultivate and direct their energy. It is also the ability to communicate or embody a vision that inspires people to do great things. This module will show you how to coach these skills in others, while also developing them yourself. In order to help others become great leaders we must first acknowledge that every human being has leadership potential within them, and that this potential is unique to each person. As a leadership coach, your work will be to help others access their leadership strengths and use them in the world. This powerful module will teach an inspired way of living that can move millions!
Areas of focus:
Defining leadership and understanding leadership styles
Seeing potential in others
Cultivating an inspired way of living
The power of visualization
Communication as a central skill
Inclusion and alignment
The importance of connection and culture
Ineffectiveness and productivity blocks
Cultivating excellence and organizational health
Module 5 - The ‘Big Picture’
While this module is optional to your coaching practice, it also holds the most potential to increase your power and effect. This is about the spiritual element, the Power of Source, and will directly address God and the Soul. Coaching is not just about the tactical, it is also about our connection to each other and to the infinite source of all creation. It is about helping people find their power, and that power ultimately resides in our soul…the part of us that is (connected to) God. This module is for the students who want to step into their highest being and connect to the knowing that, in the end, everything is Love.
Areas of focus:
Spirituality and Religion
Science
Consciousness and the Evolution of Consciousness
Matter and the Physical/Divine interaction
Presence
Energy and Vibration
The Soul and Death
God, Love and Infinite Light
